Tips on Buying A Steel String Acoustic

                          Guitar

1) When buying a guitar check the action - this is the distance of the strings from the fretboard of the guitar. For a beginner this is especially important as there is some pain in learning at first and this can be reduced by having the strings closer to the fretboard. However you don't want the strings so close that they buzz

- If buying the guitar new, the music store maybe able to setup the action for you.

2) Another important tip is to check the neck.

This is especially the case if not buying new as the guitar may have a twisted neck. You do this by looking from the head of the guitar down the fretboard. If the frets are parallel to one another then the neck is not twisted.

3) Lastly one of the most important aspects of choosing a guitar is to play the strings of the guitar and listen to it's sound. It is always a good rule to play as many as you can and then choose the one that sounds the best to you and of course the one that you believe is the best value for money. Price does not necessarily mean it is the best.
